FAQs

1) How does Linear heat detector work?

It is a line-type form of fixed temperature heat detection used in commercial and industrial environments. This linear cable can detect a fire anywhere along its entire length and is available in multiple temperatures.

Linear Heat Detection (LHD) cable is essentially a two-core cable terminated by an end-of-line resistor (resistance varies with application). The two cores are separated by a polymer plastic, that is designed to melt at a specific temperature (commonly 68°C for building applications), which causes the two cores to short. This can be seen as a change in resistance in the wire.

2) What is the Linear heat system composed of?

The heat sensing cable, control module(interface unit), and terminal unit(EOL box).

3) How many different types of Linear heat detection cable?

The digital type (Switch type, Irrecoverable) and analogue type (Recoverable). The digital type is classified into three groups by applications, conventional type, CR/OD type and EP type.

4) What are the main benefits of the system?

Easy installation and maintenance

Minimal false alarms

Provides pre-alarm at every point on the cable especially in the harsh and hazardous environments.

Compatible with intelligent and conventional detection and fire alarm panels

Available in a variety of lengths, cable coatings and alarm temperatures for maximum flexibility.

5) What are the typical applications of the heat detection system?

Power generation and heavy industries

Oil & Gas, Petrochemical industries

Mines

Transportation: Road tunnels and access tunnels

Floating roof storage tank

Conveyor belts

Vehicle engine compartments

6) How to choose LHD?

Unwanted alarms can occur when the cable is installed with an alarm rating to close to the ambient temperature. Therefore, always allow at least 20°C between maximum expected ambient temperature and alarm temperature.

7)Does it need to be tested after installation?

Yes, the detector must be tested at least annually after installation or during use.
